Ipswich Town have announced the arrival of a new Director of Recruitment that previously worked at Manchester United.
The new Tractor Boys chief worked with Town boss Kieran McKenna and coach Martyn Pert at Old Trafford.
He boasts almost 20 years experience working with the Red Devils recruitment department, most recently as a technical chief scout after 11 years of being a performance recruitment analyst.
After a summer that saw Ipswich spend £51.6million in the transfer window following their Premier League relegation, Ashton recently confirmed that the recruitment team would be bolstered. Now, the club have announced the new staff member’s Ipswich arrival.
Former Manchester United figure Mick Court announced as Ipswich Town’s Director of Recruitment
In a statement on Thursday, Ipswich said: “The club is delighted to announce the appointment of Mick Court as Director of Recruitment.
“Mick brings a wealth of experience to the role, having spent the best part of two decades working in senior recruitment roles at Manchester United, with his appointment another step in the evolution of the club’s player recruitment team.”
Town’s chairman Mark Ashton has pointed to Court’s wealth of experience from his time at Manchester United.
He said: “We are delighted to appoint Mick to such an important role at the club.
“He brings top-level experience which will significantly enhance our growing recruitment team, with his appointment the latest in a number of important moves which highlight our commitment to building the best-possible staff across all areas of the club.
“Recruitment is such an important area and is one we will continue to invest in as we move the club forward.”
What happened to Ipswich Town’s former Director of Recruitment
Court’s appointment comes following former Academy Director Dmitri Halajko’s promotion to Director of Football Operations.
Gary Probert had been Director of Football Operations at the club but moved to Liverpool at the start of the month to become the Reds’ head of loan management.
Meanwhile, Ben Chenery has been appointed as Academy Manager to replace Halajko after Ipswich’s set up was recently moved to Category One status.
This new arrival will be music to McKenna’s ears after a slow start to life back in the Championship, with them 17th with a game in hand.
