Barcelona Target Chelsea Star Joao Pedro as Lewandowski Successor

According to sources in Spain, Joao Pedro would “welcome the opportunity” to go from Chelsea to Barcelona.

As they search for a successor for Robert Lewandowski at the Nou Camp, Barcelona have indicated interest in signing Pedro.

The 37-year-old legendary striker Lewandowski, who scored 119 goals across all competitions during his four prosperous years with Barcelona, is anticipated to leave when his contract expires next month.

Julian Alvarez has been strongly linked to Barcelona, but it’s unclear if they can reach an agreement with La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid. Nou Camp managers are also aware of interest from Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Consequently, Chelsea No. 9 Pedro has been a target for the La Liga winners in recent weeks, and they are preparing a move before the summer transfer window opens.

Pedro, who signed from Brighton last summer, was anticipated to challenge Liam Delap, another summer acquisition, for a spot in the Chelsea squad.

However, the Brazilian made a name for himself as Chelsea’s top striker very fast, and he had a successful debut season at Stamford Bridge, scoring 23 goals across all competitions.

Pedro has undoubtedly been Chelsea’s finest player this season, and he kept up his good work even when Liam Rosenior’s stay came to an end.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 24-year-old is aware of Barcelona’s interest and might be amenable to moving to the Nou Camp in the summer.

Pedro is said to have always had a “soft spot” for Barcelona because he grew up witnessing fellow countrymen like Neymar and Ronaldinho succeed for the Spanish powerhouses.

Pedro is eager to participate in the Champions League again, but Chelsea, which is now in ninth place in the Premier League and has lost seven straight games, would not allow him to do so.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea “won’t make it simple” for Barcelona and would demand at least 100 million euros (£87 million) in exchange for the Brazilian.

Pedro is thought to have been contacted by Barcelona for the first time last month, but he was preoccupied with finishing the season and getting into Brazil’s squad for the World Cup this summer.

Pedro was mentioned earlier in the season by Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher as one of several Chelsea players who might leave this summer due to the problems at Stamford Bridge.

Carragher told The Overlap, Chelsea were always winning; they were always in finals and collecting trophies.

It’s all about constructing now, but for what? Fans of this age anticipate victory. For the future, they have no interest in this building.
