According to reports, Chelsea is having serious discussions with Xabi Alonso about taking over as manager, but they are also closely monitoring Cesc Fabregas before making a decision.
Alonso has been in constructive negotiations with the Blues regarding the position at Stamford Bridge that Liam Rosenior left behind following his dismissal in April.
During the draw with Liverpool, Chelsea demonstrated that they could play in Alonso’s preferred system, making the most of important players Marc Cucurella and Moises Caicedo.
Aside from Xabi Alonso, Chelsea’s top contender is Cesc Fabregas.
The Blues want to have a new manager in place before the World Cup, so if they don’t receive guarantees that Alonso will take over, they’ll probably fire him.
