Jocelyn Alo Makes History Again—Named First-Ever Director of Softball Development at Oklahoma
Norman, OK — Softball legend Jocelyn Alo continues to break barriers and blaze trails, this time off the field. The former Oklahoma star and NCAA home run queen has been named the first-ever Director of Softball Development at the University of Oklahoma—a groundbreaking role that not only cements her legacy in Norman but also redefines what’s possible for female athletes post-career.
This newly created position places Alo directly on OU’s executive athletic staff, making her the first softball alum—and the first female athlete in school history—to hold such a title. Her responsibilities will focus on enhancing player development, building alumni relations, and helping shape the long-term vision of Oklahoma’s nationally dominant softball program.
“It’s bigger than me,” Alo said in a statement. “This is about opening doors for future athletes, especially young women, and showing that greatness on the field can lead to leadership off of it.”
Alo, who led the Sooners to multiple national titles and shattered NCAA records with 122 career home runs, is regarded as one of the greatest players the sport has ever seen. Now, she’s poised to impact the next generation—not with a bat, but with vision, leadership, and purpose.
OU Athletics Director Joe Castiglione praised the move, calling it “a bold and necessary step in the evolution of college athletics—and a reflection of Jocelyn’s unmatched impact on our program and culture.”
Jocelyn Alo once made history with every swing of the bat. Now, she’s making it again — as a trailblazer in the boardroom.
