South Carolina player’s dad offers powerful message to Dawn Staley after leaving team

The South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team has been the epitome of elite throughout the past several seasons, led by head coach Dawn Staley.

Staley has helped South Carolina win three national titles, in 2017, 2022 and 2024.

Amid the success of the Gamecocks, Staley has courted star players such as Bree Hall, who have made a lasting impact on the program.

Bree Hall recently capped off her fourth season under Staley, averaging 6.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game.

Following her senior season, her father Bryan Hall, sent a message to Staley, thanking the South Carolina coach for the support.

“We thank you so much for pouring into Breezy and giving her the opportunity to play there,” Bryan Hall said. “We are forever grateful.”

Bryan Hall reacted to a heartfelt note from Staley, who took to social media to show support for the Gamecock and advertise her WNBA draft stock.

“Bree Hall, you have been a winner on and off the court,” Staley said. “You came. You gave. You conquered. We were better because of you….now the WNBA and world gets what you gave us! Love you Breezy!”

During her four-year career with the South Carolina Gamecocks, Bree Hall averaged 5.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game, en route to two national title victories.

South Carolina capped off this past season with a loss in the national title game, falling at the hands of Geno Auriemma and the UConn Huskies.
