Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings Agree to Sign and Trade Deal for DeMar DeRozan
DeMar DeRozan’s 2024 free agency saga finally reached a resolution Saturday, Jul 06, 2024. DeRozan, as part of a three-team sign and trade transaction, joins the Sacramento Kings franchise as a free-agent acquisition.
DeRozan’s new contract is worth up to $76 million over three years. The Bulls in return receive from the Sacramento Kings two second-round draft picks, wing Chris Duarte, and cash considerations. The San Antonio Spurs, as a third team in the sign and trade transaction, received forward Harrison Barnes and a 2031 unprotected pick swap from the Kings, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
DeMar DeRozan’s tenure in Chicago will be remembered for countless heroics, incredible durability, and impact on and off the court.
DeMar DeRozan was a mentor to many of the remaining Chicago Bulls that will uphold Chicago’s youth movement including Ayo Dosunmu, Dalen Terry, Patrick Williams, and most notably Coby White who has benefitted tremendously from working with DeRozan’s private skills trainer Johnny Stephene.
DeRozan’s per-game averages during his Bulls tenure will rank among the franchise greats such as Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen to name a few. DeMar DeRozan may have occupied a small amount of time in Bulls franchise history but no one should question how large of an impact DeRozan delivered to the Bulls in his three years in Chicago.
