Chelsea Draws the Line: Blues Determined to keep right-back Amid PSG and Bayern Munich Interest

There are numerous top clubs interested in signing Malo Gusto from Chelsea this summer; however, the Blues are keen to keep hold of the defender going into next season.

Gusto has provided an excellent option for the Blues at right-back since joining from Lyon and has featured in 45 games so far this season.

He has frequently been called upon since joining to hold the fort while Reece James has been injured, and his quality has allowed managers to use the captain in central midfield too.

His brilliance has been picked up by a number of top sides, with PSG and Bayern Munich amongst those tracking the defender.

However, Simon Phillips has stated that the Blues are ‘more than willing’ to keep Gusto and are even discussing offering him an improved contract at Stamford Bridge.

He said, “One player who is generating an interest for the summer is right back Malo Gusto, with four clubs tracking him ahead of a possible approach to his agents and to Chelsea.

“SPTC sources understand that PSG, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Inter Milan are all tracking Gusto ahead of the summer window opening up.

“It is unclear at the moment what the player’s stance is on any move, but we’ve heard that Chelsea are more than willing to keep Gusto, and he’s even one they may speak to about improved contract terms.”

Gusto is currently under contract until 2030; however, the way the club operates suggests a new deal could be coming his way soon.

Chelsea willing to reward players with contracts

This season has seen Moises Caicedo and Reece James sign new contracts, despite neither running towards the end of their deals.

The Blues are signing players on lower starting salaries, however, offering performance-based incentives as part of the deals.

There is still hope at the club that Enzo Fernandez will sign a new contract with the club despite his public admiration for the city of Madrid.

The decisions of the likes of Fernandez and Gusto could come down to who the club decides to hire as their new manager after parting ways with Liam Rosenior.

Chelsea is determined to retain Malo Gusto amidst interest from top European clubs like PSG and Bayern Munich.

The young full-back has made a significant impact since his arrival from Lyon, showcasing his versatility and skill in 45 appearances this season.

His ability to step in during Reece James’ injuries has been invaluable, allowing tactical flexibility for the coaching staff.

Despite the buzz surrounding his potential transfer, Chelsea is reportedly keen on extending Gusto’s contract, which currently runs until 2030. Sources indicate that the club is open to discussing improved terms, reflecting their commitment to keeping him at Stamford Bridge.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Gusto’s future remains uncertain, but Chelsea’s proactive stance suggests they view him as a key player for the upcoming season.

The club’s recent strategy of rewarding players with performance-based contracts, as seen with Moises Caicedo and Reece James, further emphasizes their intent to build a strong squad around emerging talents like Gusto.

In the backdrop of managerial changes, the decisions regarding player contracts, including those of Gusto and Enzo Fernandez, will likely hinge on the new leadership’s vision for the team.

Chelsea fans are hopeful that the club will prioritize retaining their promising young stars as they aim for success in the coming seasons.
