During his much-needed Everton loan, Grealish made an impression.

During his last several months at Manchester City, Grealish had been a lonely figure, sitting on the bench for several afternoons and evenings while manager Pep Guardiola preferred alternative choices. There was a lot of talk about his future, particularly during a season when City struggled mightily to be consistent while he was underutilized.

His loan at Everton was viewed as a much-needed chance to make a fresh start. With two goals and six assists in his 20 Premier League games thus far, the former Aston Villa attacker helped the Toffees move up to tenth place in the first half of the season.

An England star has a stress fracture in his foot, according to Everton.

But within the last week or so, things have gotten worse. Realish’s manager has officially verified reports that he will be out for months due to a foot problem.

“It’s not for me to provide the timings and we’ve not had it yet, but he’s got a stress fracture in his foot – that’s all I can tell you,” Moyes stated at his pre-match news conference prior to Everton’s encounter against Leeds United on Monday night.

He has been crucial to us from the beginning of the season, so it’s a tremendous setback. He has contributed significantly to the team. We’ve had a few injuries, but this is a serious setback for us.

Moyes continued, “We’re in close communication with [parent club] Manchester City, so we’ll see how that works as we go along and we get more decisions from the specialist.” This was in reference to Grealish’s recuperation throughout his recovery.

Grealish’s chances of winning the World Cup are in jeopardy

Grealish, who had been making an impression under Moyes, has suffered a serious setback as a result of the injury. Everton has been gaining ground on the relegation zone on a regular basis. It also seriously jeopardizes his prospects of being selected for England’s World Cup squad.

Thomas Tuchel has yet to utilize the 39-time Three Lions international, who last played for his country in a 3-1 Nations League victory over Finland in October 2024. During Lee Carsley’s tenure as interim manager, he scored his team’s first goal of the match. Since then, Tuchel has favored players like Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Gordon, Eberechi Eze, and Jarrod Bowen over him.

Grealish most likely won’t be in the team for the March friendlies against Uruguay and Japan because he hasn’t played under the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager and is now injured. In order to secure his spot on the plane to North America in the summer, he would also need to perform really well once he returns, given there is probably not much of the season left to play.
