According to reports, Real Madrid has proposed a surprising swap deal to Liverpool as they seek to acquire Florian Wirtz from the Premier League powers.
Liverpool eclipsed the British transfer record to acquire Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer for approximately £116 million before paying £125 million to secure Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
Wirtz joined Liverpool during the early stages of this summer’s transfer window, representing a significant achievement for the Reds as they successfully defended against competition from Bayern Munich and Manchester City to acquire his services.
However, Wirtz has encountered difficulties at Liverpool during the initial months of this season and has faced considerable criticism for his sluggish beginning at Anfield.
Wirtz is making steady progress; however, he remains goalless in the Premier League and has considerable work ahead if he is to ultimately justify his substantial transfer fee.

Real Madrid was also considered a prospective destination for Wirtz following the appointment of Xabi Alonso, and they continue to be a possibility for the Germany international in the coming years.
Now, a recent report from a Spanish media outlet indicates that Real Madrid are already attempting to acquire Wirtz and have presented Liverpool with a surprising transfer proposal involving Turkey international Arda Guler.
Guler has been considered a potential future hero; however, he has faced difficulties in securing consistent playing time at Real Madrid and has been occasionally linked with a transfer to the Premier League in recent months.
The report states that Real Madrid’s proposed offer is a direct swap deal without a charge, which is considered ‘unlikely’ to be accepted by Liverpool following their expenditure of £116 million for Wirtz.
It is noted that Alonso would be ‘very happy’ to reunite with Wirtz, but Liverpool are expected to be less in favor of the deal.
The report adds: ‘Swapping Güler for Wirtz would be a logical move for both clubs, but it goes without saying that reaching an agreement is exceedingly unlikely. After all, it’s essential to remember that Liverpool paid over €130 million for him.
‘So they are not prepared to lose this money, and would demand significant financial compensation from Madrid to finalise this swap.’
So in essence, this deal won’t be happening.
Instead, expect Wirtz to continue to develop at Liverpool, as he is simply too talented to not eventually become a huge success for the Premier League giants.
