NFC North QB Rankings Week 2 (2025): Jordan Love Leads, Goff Shines
There has been a lot of interesting quarterback play in the NFC North over the first two weeks of the 2025 NFL season.
The Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love, who is clearly a strong early contender for NFL MVP, would be among the top five quarterbacks in this division alone if we were to provide power rankings for every quarterback in the league thus far.
The other is, of course, Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions, who leads the league in both touchdown passes and completion %.
We begin our NFC North QB power rankings with a player who won’t even be playing in Week 3, so let’s take a look at the bottom two before moving on to the top two.
4. The Minnesota Vikings’ J.J. McCarthy
In the Minnesota Vikings’ season opener against the Chicago Bears, young quarterback J.J. McCarthy led his team to an unlikely 27-21 victory after doing little for the first three quarters. He finished with a flurry, throwing two touchdowns, completing a pass for a two-point conversion, and running for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to earn NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
However, in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons, the Michigan alumnus failed to perform any such magic, completing only 52.4% of his throws for 158 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions in a crushing 22-6 loss.
To make things worse, McCarthy has an ankle ailment that will keep him out of action for the next two to four weeks. As a result, Carson Wentz will be the Vikes’ next quarterback, and if he does well, it will be interesting to watch how things develop.
3. The Chicago Bears’ Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams had a strong first half for the Bears against the Vikings in Week 1, but he struggled with accuracy in the last half, allowing McCarthy to essentially step in and steal the win.
Williams performed better overall, at least as a passer, against the Lions in Week 2, completing 19 of 30 passes for 207 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. His poor decision-making on that play made the pick his fault, but he isn’t the only one who should take the blame for Chicago’s 31-point defeat.
Bears supporters might have unrealistic expectations for Ben Johnson’s first season because Williams is still a work in progress. However, he’s headed in the correct way.
2. The Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff
Alright, Lions supporters, I understand your thoughts. Since this is a Packers website, you could assume that I’m making fun of Jared Goff in order to get Jordan Love at number one. However, I can assure you that isn’t the case.
As previously stated, Goff is tied with Lamar Jackson for the league’s most touchdown passes with six, tops the NFL in completion percentage with an absurd 80.6 percent, and sits fourth among all quarterbacks with 559 passing yards.
Let’s be honest, though. This past Sunday, 334 of those yards and five of those touchdown passes were against a very poor Bears defense. In Week 1, Goff was not nearly as effective against a far more formidable Green Bay offense, throwing for 225 yards with one score and one interception.
1. The Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love
Jordan Love has been a rock-solid quarterback for Green Bay throughout the first two weeks, completing two-thirds of his throws for 480 yards and four touchdowns. He may not have the flashy stats that Goff currently has.

He started this season by defeating the NFC’s top seed and runners-up from the previous season, which further strengthened his case for this No. 1 slot. He is the only player on this list who hasn’t yet thrown an interception.
In contrast to Goff, who possesses Amon-Ra St. Brown, a former All-Pro wide receiver, Love is succeeding without a standout wide receiver. Early in the Packers’ victory over the Washington Commanders in Week 2, Jayden Reed was sidelined due to a broken collarbone.
Matthew Golden, a first-round pick, is yet to have his breakthrough performance. With 96 yards, Romeo Doubs leads all Green Bay wide receivers, and Dontayvion Wicks leads with six receptions.
Tucker Kraft, a tight end who leads all Packers pass-catchers in catches (eight), receiving yards (140), and receiving scores (two), is helping Love do his damage. Following a knee injury sustained during practice, maybe Kraft will be available this week.
When the rest of his receivers start to play well, just think of the devastation Jordan will cause.
