Seahawks analyst suggests trade package to bring Micah Parsons to Seattle

Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons is a generational talent.

Parsons was drafted by the Cowboys in 2021 and has been a standout ever since. His rookie contract expires after the 2025 season, but he’s seeking an extension from Dallas.

On Friday, Parsons himself took his frustrations over stalled talks with the Cowboys to X, where he stated he wants out of Dallas.

“Unfortunately I no longer want to be here,” Parsons said. “I have made a tough decision. I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally.”

In his young career, Parsons has already been named the 2021 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year and has earned three All-Pro and four Pro Bowl nods.

Any team would be lucky to have a player like Parsons, and if the Cowboys won’t pay him what he’s asking, another franchise may actually get the chance to.

Matthew Schmidt of Sports Illustrated believes the Seattle Seahawks could be a great fit to land Parsons. He suggests the following package:

  • Seahawks receive: LB Micah Parsons
  • Cowboys receive: LB Derick Hall, first-round pick, third-round pick

“Let’s say push comes to shove and Parsons ultimately asks to be dealt. Obviously, a ton of teams will be lining up, but there is no question that the Seahawks can actually put together one of the more enticing packages for the edge rusher,” Schmidt wrote.

The Seahawks’ defense ranked 12th in the league for total yards allowed in 2024. While that’s above league average, there’s still room for improvement and adding a player of Parsons’ caliber could completely transform that side of the ball.

Seattle hasn’t had an edge rusher reach double-digit sacks since 2018, when Frank Clark got to the quarterback 14 times. With Parsons, that would could change, as he has never had a season with fewer than 12 sacks.

Yes, acquiring Parsons would be expensive, both in terms of draft capital and the hefty contract he’s seeking, but if Seattle can make a deal, it would be well worth the price.
