Everton Advance Talk to Sign ‘World-Class’ Brazilian Star As David Moyes is Keen to Have Him

Everton could make a concerted effort to land Juventus star Douglas Luiz in the coming weeks, as David Moyes looks to strengthen his ranks ahead of the club’s first season at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium – with reports stating that the Toffees have ‘discussed’ a potential deal to land the Brazilian in a new-look era on Merseyside.

The Premier League ever-presents have struggled over the past four years, being involved in relegation scraps in each of those campaigns, but any threat of demotion to the Championship was extinguished by Moyes last season after a strong run of form upon his arrival to the helm in January. Now, he has the chance to strengthen and Luiz has come into his sights.

Report: Everton ‘Discuss’ Deal for Douglas Luiz

The Toffees are in need of a huge rebuild to propel themselves as a club.

The report by The Times reporter, Paul Joyce, states that Everton will continue to ‘accelerate’ their recruitment drive after the signing of Thierno Barry from Villarreal – with Luiz being in their sights as a potential target having discussed a deal for him.

The Toffees have made two permanent signings in the current transfer window, having turned loan star Charly Alcaraz’s temporary deal into a permanent one – but that still leaves just 16 senior players heading into next week’s pre-season friendlies.

The club’s new owners took a decision not to spend in January, with a deal for West Brom starlet Tom Fellows being lined up – and with work now to do, a move for the ‘world-class’ Brazilian remains a possibility.

Luiz is joined by Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha and former Aston Villa teammate John McGinn as a potential option to bolster their ranks in midfield, but his current situation at Juventus means that he’s a target who is easily attainable in terms of the Serie A club being willing to facilitate a move, and that is a deal that could be done in the coming weeks prior to the Premier League season.

Having been at Villa for five years, Luiz was a mainstay in the side that went from relegation battlers upon their return to the Premier League to qualifying for the Champions League under Unai Emery – with nine goals in his final Premier League campaign being a huge helping hand in Villa securing their spot in Europe’s most premier cup competition.
