Braves Game vs Nationals Postponed, Make-Up Date Announced

The Atlanta Braves’ scheduled game against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, was postponed due to inclement weather.

In response, Major League Baseball has announced that the makeup game will take place as part of a split doubleheader on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The first game is scheduled to begin at 1:05 p.m. local time at Nationals Park, with the originally scheduled game following at 6:45 p.m.

Prior to the postponement, Braves pitcher AJ Smith-Shawver (3-2, 2.33 ERA) was slated to face Nationals pitcher Trevor Williams (2-5, 5.91 ERA). Both pitchers are now expected to start in the rescheduled game on Thursday night, May 22, 2025.

The Nationals are currently on a four-game winning streak, including a 5-3 victory over the Braves on Tuesday to open the series. However, the team faces a setback with outfielder Dylan Crews being placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left oblique strain sustained after exiting Tuesday’s game with a lower-back issue. In response, the Nationals have called up top outfield prospect Robert Hassell III from Triple-A Rochester, potentially marking his MLB debut. Hassell is currently ranked as the No. 11 prospect in the Nationals’ system according to MLB Pipeline.

Fans who held tickets for the postponed game are advised to refer to the Nationals’ official website or contact their ticketing representatives for information on exchanges or refunds. As the season progresses, both teams will look to capitalize on the rescheduled matchup to bolster their standings.
