Ipswich Town are reportedly eyeing a move for French striker Willem Geubbels on a free transfer, aiming to bolster their attacking options with a player described as “ruthless” in front of goal.
The 23-year-old forward, currently playing for Swiss club FC St. Gallen, has been in impressive form, scoring six goals in just 13 league appearances during the 2024/25 season.
Geubbels began his professional career at Olympique Lyonnais, making his Ligue 1 debut at the age of 16, becoming the first player born in the 21st century to appear in the French top flight . He later moved to AS Monaco for €20 million in 2018, but struggled to establish himself in the first team. A loan spell at FC Nantes saw him contribute to their Coupe de France victory, scoring three goals and providing one assist in 26 appearances.
In January 2023, Geubbels joined FC St. Gallen on a free transfer. Since then, he has made 73 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals and registering seven assists. His performances earned him a contract extension until 2027.

Despite his recent contract extension, Geubbels’ future at St. Gallen has come into question. The club reportedly rejected offers from Union Berlin, Luton Town, and Blackburn Rovers, with the latter’s bid around €8 million being turned down . This suggests that St. Gallen may be open to selling him if the right offer comes along.
Ipswich Town’s interest in Geubbels indicates their intent to strengthen their attacking lineup. With his proven goal-scoring ability and experience in European football, Geubbels could be a valuable addition to the Championship side. However, Ipswich will need to act swiftly and decisively to secure his signature, especially with other clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.
