After being selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, expectations were high for Kelee Ringo, thanks to his impressive college performance at Georgia.

In his first two seasons, he was mostly behind established veterans like Darius Slay, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Avonte Maddox, and Isaiah Rodgers. Now that those players are no longer with the team, Ringo may have a chance at a larger role.
However, Sterling Xie of Pro Football Network isn’t convinced. In a recent article naming one veteran from each NFL team who could be cut or traded, Xie chose Ringo for the Eagles. Although the departure of Slay and James Bradberry opens opportunities, the presence of Adoree’ Jackson and rookie Mac McWilliams adds competition. Xie suggests that Ringo might be facing a pivotal offseason.

Despite the potential path to a bigger role, Ringo’s future with the Eagles is uncertain. The team’s depth at cornerback, highlighted by young talents Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, could push Ringo out of the rotation. Still, his size, athleticism, and value on special teams may make him an appealing trade option. At just 22 and on a low-cost rookie deal, he could attract interest from other teams looking to develop defensive depth.
Ringo played all 17 games as a rookie, recording 21 tackles, a sack, and an interception. Teammates and coaches noted his progress, especially in his technique, and A.J. Brown even praised his competitiveness in practice. In 2024, Ringo found a role on special teams, notably as a gunner. While he wasn’t a starting cornerback, he made the most of his chances, showing efficiency in coverage and contributing with key plays.
With training camp on the horizon, how Ringo responds to competition from Jackson and McWilliams will be critical to his future in Philadelphia.
