In the 2023 season, Moore stepped in as Michigan’s acting head coach during Jim Harbaugh’s suspension. Meyer observed Moore’s interactions with players, noting that he “had fun” and maintained a positive presence on the sideline, even in high-pressure situations . This leadership was particularly evident during the Wolverines’ victory over Ohio State, where Moore led the team to a 24–15 win .
Despite the challenges faced by Michigan, including the suspension of key coaching staff, Meyer believes that such adversity can galvanize a team. He remarked that Harbaugh’s suspension could be a “huge advantage” for the Wolverines, as “everybody wants to coach an angry team”
