Steelers mock draft update: Shedeur Sanders edition

Reaction to Shedeur Sanders Pre-Draft Visit | Steelers Afternoon Drive

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Tuesday that they would be hosting Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders for a Top 30 visit. Although Sanders is widely regarded as the second-best quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft, opinions on his draft stock vary widely.

Sanders might be selected by the Steelers at No. 21 overall, or they could even trade up to acquire him. In light of that, we have updated our mock draft to include Sanders in the first round.

First round – QB Shedeur Sanders – Colorado

There’s no denying that Sanders has a high football IQ and loads of arm talent. He’s sneaky athletic but didn’t really showcase that at Colorado, and he needs to work better when there’s pressure.

Third round – DT Jordan Phillips – Maryland

Phillips is a freakishly powerful nose tackle whose feats of strength in the training room translate to the field in run support. Phillips is a throwback nose who commands a double-team on every play.

Fourth round – RB Jaydon Blue – Texas

The Steelers have shown an interest in Blue, who is explosive and dynamic with the home run speed the run game needs.

Fifth round – WR Roc Taylor – Memphis

Few wide receivers in college football have been as good as Taylor has been the last two seasons. His size and athleticism are up there with the top prospects in this draft.

Sixth round – G Dylan Fairchild – Georgia

Fairchild brings a wealth of experience at guard in the SEC and is one of the best pass-blocking interior offensive linemen in the draft. He has to get stronger and improve as a run blocker but he’s got starter potential.

Seventh round – DT Joe Evans – UTSA

Similar to Phillips, Evans is a massive interior defensive lineman whose stock is down after an injury last season cut his season short. But his raw power and motor will help him find a spot on early downs.
