Derby County moved out of the Championship relegation zone with a crucial 2-0 home win over Preston North End, and their defender, Ryan Nyambe, also broke some league history.
Just not the kind he probably dreamed of as a child.
The Namibian defender was passed fit for the game after recent injuries, but lasted just two minutes before coming off.
Still, it counted as his 202nd appearance in the English second tier, which means he is now the outfield player with the most games to not score a goal.
Nyambe started his career with Blackburn before moving to Wigan and then onto the Rams, and has shown throughout that he is a man who tries to stop goals being conceded, not one who nets them.
History has been made tonight…
Ryan Nyambe HAS BROKEN the Championship record for the most outfield appearances without ever scoring a goal being subbed against Preston.
He’s played 202 games at Championship level.
Neither Nyambe or Derby will care if that record grows and grows as long as survival is achieved though!
