Becoming Led Zeppelin, a documentary about the band, has released a full-length trailer.
The first official documentary film about the rock group will be released by Sony Pictures Classics on February 14, 2025.
A week prior, on February 7, IMAX will provide unique one-night early access screenings in eighteen cities.
The movie follows the four members of the rock group “Stairway To Heaven” as they travel through the 1960s music scene, meet in the summer of 1968, and end in 1970.
Interviews with the band members John Paul, Robert Plant, and Jimmy Page are the only sources used to tell the story. There are audio interviews with the late John Bonham that have never been heard before. The movie includes unreleased content from the band’s personal archives, never-before-seen footage of the band’s early U.S. and British concerts, and complete performances.
With the help of screenwriter and producer Allison McGourty, Bernard MacMahon directed, researched, and wrote Becoming Led Zeppelin.
“We spent five years flying back and forth across the Atlantic scouring attics and basements in pursuit of rare and unseen film footage, photographs,
and music recordings,” McGourty stated. “Then we transferred each piece of media with custom techniques, so that in IMAX, these 55-year-old clips and music would look and sound like they came out of the lab yesterday.
BECOMING LED ZEPPELIN is the first ever authorized documentary about the band. The film charts the early musical influences and careers of each bandmate before diving deep into their first two albums and subsequent tours. The film features “never-before-seen” footage, remastered sound and video, and audio interviews with John Bonham that have been kept private for decades. Full songs play in the film, making it feel just like a concert.
