According to GIVEMESPORT sources on the most recent episode of the Market Madness podcast, Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva is expected to depart the team at the end of the current campaign.
Since making the huge £60 million transfer from Monaco to the Etihad Stadium in 2017, the Portugal international has been a vital part of Pep Guardiola’s team, helping them win six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and a Champions League.
Although he hasn’t formally stated that he will be leaving the Cityzens, Silva has stated that he has already decided what he will do when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
Silva, who presently makes £375,000 per week, has been a top target for Saudi football for a number of years. Since the summer of 2023, he has been in intermittent negotiations with dealmakers. A deal worth about £500,000 per week was offered to him back then, and although it never happened, insiders say he is still a top target.
Although GIVEMESPORT is aware that Al Ahli and Al Qadsiah have both made inquiries more recently, it is unlikely that Al Hilal will return with an offer in 2026 because they have their sights set elsewhere. Silva has other options besides moving to the Middle East, but he is not opposed to it either.
Silva also has the chance to rejoin Benfica, his first club, in Portugal, and it is believed that the player would be amenable to that prospect as well.
After a dismal start to the Champions League campaign, the Lisbon team just hired Jose Mourinho as manager to replace Bruno Lage; nevertheless, there is no assurance that he would be in command at the Estadio da Luz the following season. Although Mourinho agreed to a two-year contract, there was a one-year break clause in the summer.
According to sources, Roberto Martinez, who took over as manager of the Portugal national team following the last World Cup and guided the team to the quarterfinals of Euro 2024 before winning the UEFA Nations League, may decide not to extend his contract after the World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
Mourinho has been associated with coaching the national team for a long time, and it is said that he is being considered for the position should it become available.
