Braves release Canadian RHP Cal Quantrill after two starts

Canada’s Cal Quantrill will be on the lookout for a third home this season after a short stint in Georgia.

The Atlanta Braves released the right-hander after making only two starts with the side, the team announced Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Braves reinstated outfielder Jurickson Profar from the paternity list, recalled RHP Daysbel Hernandez, designated infielder Luke Williams for assignment and claimed RHP Wander Suero off the waivers from the Mets.

In his two starts with the Braves, Quantrill pitched to a 13.50 ERA after giving up 12 runs and striking out three in eight innings of work.

The Port Hope, Ont., native was claimed by the Braves in August after he was released by the Miami Marlins.

Over his 26 starts between the two clubs this season, Quantrill has a career-worst 6.04 ERA with a 4-12 record and 85 strikeouts in 117.2 innings.

However, he threw the first immaculate inning of the season in a game against the Tampa Bay Rays in May.
