Manchester United have been linked with bolstering several areas of Ruben Amorim’s squad this summer.
There has been a clear emphasis put on adding to Manchester United’s attack this summer following the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. Ruben Amorim has signed two players with an eye for goal on top of valuable Premier League experience.
It remains to be seen if United will get any more business done this summer, although it is understood that Ineos are reliant on sales from this point. There are several players available for transfer but it’s about finding the right deal from the right club.
Any sales could lead to the addition of a new striker, goalkeeper and a midfielder. They are the three areas Amorim would most like to improve before the start of the new season.
United have multiple targets in these roles, but only time will tell if they will be able to get these deals over the line in time.
Ipswich Town close in on Hayden Hackney
One midfielder linked with a move to United this summer is Hayden Hackney.
Hackney impressed at Middlesbrough under Michael Carrick and is thought to be on the move following the sacking of the United legend.
Ipswich Town have struck a deal with Middlesbrough for the 23-year-old worth up to £15 million plus add-ons, but now await an agreement for the England U21 international to complete the move.
Hackney has been touted for a bright future in the game and was tipped with a move to Old Trafford earlier this summer.
This means Hackney might remain in the Championship next season, even if he leaves Boro before the start of the season.
Only time will tell if United have the funds required to get involved before Hackney joins Ipswich Town.
The next step for Hackney will be agreeing terms with Ipswich. It was also been reported that former United coach Kieran McKenna is working hard to convince Hackney to join.
McKenna had a close relationship with Carrick at United and it’s understood he was advised to make a move for the talented midfielder.
Hackney stats last season
There is no denying that Hackney, even at such a young age, is a key player at Middlesbrough.
It would be a huge blow if they were to lose their star player to another club competing for Premier League promotion.
Hackney made 44 appearances for Middlesbrough last season and earned links to United this summer.
He also scored five goals and registered three assists.
