Colts expected to replace Anthony Richardson with full ‘reset’ by landing top QB talent

The Indianapolis Colts may be looking at a quarterback breaking point sooner rather than later.

Daniel Jones is battling Anthony Richardson for the 2025 starting QB gig, but no matter who wins it, it might be a one-year assignment.

Many expect the Colts to start over after the season at the most important position in sports.

Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski is of that thinking, too, imploring the Colts to do a “reset” at quarterback.

Sobleski suggests the Colts should target Penn State QB Drew Allar in the 2026 NFL Draft:

“Anthony Richardson is entering a critical year, which is why it’s unfortunate that he’s dealing with a shoulder problem again. The Colts may be saved if Daniel Jones experiences a Sam Darnold-like resurgence. Clearly, expectations aren’t high for either quarterback. So, the Colts do what’s necessary and reset. In this case, the organization does so with Penn State’s Drew Allar.”

Allar has played three seasons so far for the Nittany Lions. He has 53 touchdown passes compared to just 10 interceptions in that time.

This move would also pair him back up with tight end Tyler Warren, who the Colts just drafted in the first round. That’d be an awesome partnership in Indianapolis for years to come.
