Everton face another transfer blow as long time target locked in negotiation elsewhere

Everton can now get to work on securing some further summer signings after confirming the addition of Thierno Barry.

The work needed on Merseyside in this summer window has been described as ‘unprecedented’ by Angus Kinnear.

Everton have so many positions to fill with new signings, and they have to do so whilst so much off-field change is still happening.

David Moyes returned to Merseyside and worked his magic with the squad he inherited from Sean Dyche.

But any hopes of a calm summer can be forgotten as it is already proving to be a stressful one for many around the club.

With a new striker now on board, Everton would like to add a full-back to really bolster their options at the back.

Everton have already seen a number of targets pass them by in the window, and it seems another could soon be signing elsewhere.

Everton target Kyle Walker-Peters nearing Besiktas move

Signing Michael Keane to a new Everton contract certainly provided some covering the centre-back positions.

But Everton still need to address their options at full-back, with Ashley Young also departing the club to narrow down the players available to Moyes.

Everton have shown interest in Kyle Walker-Peters, but it seems as if the free agent could be set for a move to Turkey.

According to David Ornstein, Walker-Peters is in talks with Besiktas who are working hard to find an agreement with the full-back.

Although no agreement has been quite reached between the two parties, talks are still said to be ongoing.

If Everton want to land the experienced Premier League defender, it does feel as if now is the time to act before it is too late.

David Moyes faces right-back conundrum at Everton

A very interesting decision lies ahead for Moyes when it comes to who will be his starting right-back for the new season.

Clearly, Vitaliy Mykolenko is the starting left-back, with no other senior option on offer to the Scotsman.

However, Jake O’Brien has impressed Moyes immensely since he returned to the club back in January.

After a rocky start to life on Merseyside under Dyche, O’Brien is back to enjoying his football.

It does have to be remembered that the Irishman is not a natural full-back, and there are some limits to the attacking side of his game.

With this in mind, it will be interesting to see whether Everton head into the new campaign with a natural right-back starting ahead of O’Brien.
