Fresh claim made over Derby County target that could ignites transfer dominoes

The race to sign Cody Drameh has taken another twist amid claims the Derby County-linked defender is now wanted by Blackburn.

Derby were heavily linked with a move for the the full-back across the summer and reportedly had a bid rejected for the ex-Leeds man.

Now Sky Sports are claiming that Drameh is a potential replacement for Callum Brittain, who ironically, has also been linked with the Rams this summer.

Hull could be forced into a sale of Drameh given their current financial concerns with the Tigers currently fighting a three-window ban on paying transfer fees.

That punishment was enforced by the EFL after Hull had been late paying for the loan of Aston Villa winger Louie Barry, although the debt has now been settled.

Still, Drameh is a player that is expected to move on this summer given he was barely used under previous manager Ruben Selles and can play either right or left-back.

The 23-year-old’s move to Hull from Leeds last summer was widely regarded as a coup but he could not establish himself as a first-choice starter.

He has previously played under Derby head coach John Eustace at Birmingham and Preston North End have also been keen on the defender while there has been talk of interest from Rangers.

The news comes as doubts persist over Brittain’s future at Blackburn with the full-back entering the last year of his contract.

Eustace worked with the player at Ewood Park and once labelled him as one of the best in the division.

He has been touted with a potential move to Derby after the Rams secured the arrivals of Danny Batth and Andi Weimann who both rejected the chance of staying in the north west.
