Mountaineers’ Remarkable Regional Run

Under the guidance of first-year head coach Steve Sabins, the Mountaineers have demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the postseason. In the Clemson Regional, they overcame early deficits in all three games, culminating in a dramatic walk-off victory against Kentucky and a comeback win over Clemson. Their final game against Kentucky was particularly notable, as they rallied from a five-run deficit in the eighth inning, scoring six runs to secure the win.

Sophomore outfielder Armani Guzman played a pivotal role in the team’s success, earning the Regional’s Most Outstanding Player honors. He concluded the weekend with a .667 batting average, six RBIs, and a pair of doubles, including a walk-off sacrifice fly against Kentucky. Additionally, Logan Sauve, Brodie Kresser, Griffin Kirn, and Guzman were selected to the Clemson Regional All-Tournament Team.

LSU’s Path to the Super Regional

LSU, boasting a 46–15 record, advanced to the Super Regionals after a series of decisive victories in the Baton Rouge Regional. They secured wins over Little Rock, including a 10–6 triumph in the final game, to clinch their spot in the next round. The Tigers are looking to continue their strong postseason performance and defend their national title from the previous year.
