In October, Harris made the notorious statement on “The View” that she wouldn’t have done anything different from Biden.

On “The View,” Biden reacts to Harris’ viral moment.

During her 2024 campaign, former President Joe Biden denied pressuring Kamala Harris to avoid sunshine.

During her October 2024 interview on the ABC program, former President Joe Biden denied telling former Vice President Kamala Harris that there could be no “daylight” between them while she was on the campaign trail. Biden also defended what was widely perceived as a missed chance for the vice president to set herself apart from Biden.

Sunny Hostin, her co-host, mentioned the query she had asked Harris prior to the election. At the time, Hostin asked Harris if there was anything he would have done differently than Biden. Harris replied, “Not a thing comes to mind.”

After claiming that the vice president’s response was “weaponized against her,” Hostin questioned Biden about the rumor that he had warned Harris during her campaign that “there could be no distance” between the two.

“Well, let me start by saying that I did not advise her to say that. I was vice president, as I mentioned. First of all, I understand the role. Second, I believe she was referring to the fact that she wouldn’t have altered our achievements, not that we would have altered anything at all. She must be independent, and she was. She was. As a result, I believe that was not her intention when she made that statement, and I believe that she contributed to all of our accomplishments,” the former president stated.

Biden blames racism and sexism, saying he wasn’t surprised that Harris lost.

Biden “would suggest publicly that Harris should do what she needs to win,” according to a book written by writers Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes. However, he reiterated a warning in private, particularly when speaking to her: “Let there be no daylight between us.

However, Biden called Harris on the day of the debate to give him a unique motivational speech and to remind him of the loyalty he had demanded. He expected Harris to preserve his legacy because he was no longer able to defend his own record,” they wrote.

He believed that she would only hurt him by publicly separating herself from him, especially during a debate that would be viewed by millions of Americans, regardless of whether she won or lost the election. Biden had no interest in allowing her to follow her own path to the extent that she desired to do so.

In the interview Thursday, Hostin urged the former president to address critics who said he ought to have withdrawn from the race earlier to give Harris more time, pointing out that Harris’ campaign lasted around ninety days.

“I stress, first and foremost, that there were still six whole months left, and she was involved in every decision—both mine and ours—and I hope I don’t come across as offensive. I don’t think anybody thought we’d be successful as we were,” Biden responded.
