Super Bowl Success Comes at a Cost: Former Pro Bowl Safety Sign Deal With the Eagles

Since you can’t pay everyone, it’s an awful cost of doing business, but with a Pro Bowl safety still available as a free agent, assistance might be on the way.

Justin Simmons wants to play for the Eagles, Brian Baldinger noted during a recent NFL Network appearance.

He wants to visit Philadelphia for more than simply a reunion with Vic Fangio and Justin Simmons. Darius Slay was gone to them. In that secondary, they lost a few leaders. Through Dov Kleiman, Baldinger stated, “He supplies that.”

Prior to last season, Simmons was cut by the Denver Broncos, where he spent the first eight of his 32 NFL seasons intercepting passes.

In 16 games, he recorded 62 tackles and two interceptions while playing for the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year contract.

Despite Atlanta’s poor defense as a whole, Simmons showed that, at age 31, he is still capable of being one of the league’s top safeties.

Simmons would fit right in with Reed Blankenship in the back of the Eagles’ secondary, and it’s surprising that he’s still available at this stage of the offseason.

Those two would make a formidable safety team, and Baldinger is optimistic that a deal may be on the horizon.

At this point in his career, Simmons is probably searching for a contender, and if he wants to win a championship, Philadelphia is among the best possibilities available.
