Derby County manager John Eustace has made no secret of his ambitions to lead the club back to the Premier League.
Following Derby’s promotion to the Championship, Eustace has spoken candidly about his vision for the club, emphasizing a long-term strategy rooted in stability, development, and ambition.
Appointed in early 2024, Eustace inherited a club that had experienced years of turmoil, including financial crises and relegation. However, under his guidance, Derby have shown signs of real progress, both on and off the pitch. Speaking to the media ahead of the 2025/26 season, Eustace made it clear that his ultimate goal is to bring top-flight football back to Pride Park.
“This club belongs in the Premier League,” Eustace said. “We know it’s a big challenge, but with the support we have, the infrastructure being built, and the mentality we’re instilling in the squad, we believe it’s achievable.”
Eustace, known for his methodical approach and man-management skills, has placed a strong emphasis on developing young talent while also recruiting experienced professionals who understand the demands of the Championship. His pragmatic but ambitious outlook has won the support of Derby’s fanbase and ownership alike.
While Eustace has cautioned against rushing the process, he’s also aware of the momentum needed in a highly competitive league. “We have to be smart. It’s about building something that lasts – not just one good season. We’re focused on getting stronger every day, and if we do that, promotion will take care of itself.”
The manager has also highlighted the importance of unity at the club, referencing the backing of the fans and the board. “It’s not just about the players or the staff. The fans have been through a lot. They deserve to dream again.”
With pre-season preparations underway and squad strengthening a priority, Derby’s trajectory under Eustace is clearly upward. While he won’t place a deadline on Premier League promotion, the ambition is unwavering.
“Whether it takes one year or three, the goal is the same. We want Derby County back where it belongs.”
