From Missed Tackles to Missed Opportunities: Giants Draft Pick Named as Favorite in New Analysis

Here are some reasons why the team will ultimately benefit from the selection in issue.

The majority of reviews for the New York Giants’ 2025 draft class have been very positive, giving the team, which stumbled to a franchise-worst 3-14 record the previous season, fresh hope.

There was pressure on general manager Joe Schoen to duplicate that accomplishment after his 2024 draft class was a huge success. He seems to have done so on paper, and hope for better days ahead is currently sweeping out of 1925 Giants Drive.

There isn’t much to complain about with the current draft choices, but one pick that was identified by Pro Football Focus was Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo, who was selected by the Giants in the fourth round (at No. 105 overall). According to Sikkema, he was his RB3 and the 51st-ranked prospect overall.

In his analysis, Sikkema stated, “I appreciate the smash-and-dash combo his rugged running style brings to life with Tyrone Tracy Jr. already entrenched in the lineup.

Skattebo had the second-most missed tackles caused in the nation in 2024, earning an outstanding 94.6 PFF running grade (103).”

Skattebo would surely be a welcome addition to a Giants rushing offense that occasionally struggled to reach or surpass the second level last season, as evidenced by his missed tackles caused (MTF) figure.

However, Skattebo’s contribution to the Giants’ offense will be welcomed mostly because he brings a sense of the “thunder” game that has been largely absent from the team’s offensive scheme.

It is hoped that Skattebo and Tracy would be able to wear out opposition defenders with their alternate running techniques once they are regular members of the Giants’ running backs committee.

Similar to the explosive combination of Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw in the past, this might make it simpler for the passing game to take chances down the field or to eat up the clock late in the game.

After the Giants finished selecting players in the 2025 draft, head coach Brian Daboll praised Skattebo, saying, “He plays with terrific contact balance.”

He is extremely resilient. He can be used in many different ways. In addition to having excellent vision and quick feet, he can throw the ball, run routes, and catch.

He is a 220-pound back with a powerful, strong running style and a tough demeanor.
